THE TRIP

With this trip, we were given the opportunity to spend two weeks in Lens, doing two different projects with students from different countries and with the opportunity to discover the city and its surroundings during our free time.

Ultimately, this trip ended up being an experience I will never forget. From participating in two really fun and different projects, to making friends and discovering new places like Lens, Arras, Lille, Vimy Ridge, and even Paris (which I had visited once before), the trip was an amazing experience I would recommend to anyone. I also loved being able to meet new people, everyone was super nice and for the french students I got to spend a lot of time with, I hope that wasn’t the last time I saw them. Lastly, I’m also grateful for the people from Canada that I was with and made everyday so much fun, and for the trip which allowed the already existing friendships to just become stronger.

All in all, it was SO much fun and I would do it all again in a heartbeat.

WEEK 1 - Wicks

For the first week, my team and I worked on a communications project for an event to showcase internationally the mining history in Lens. The main focus was on a real historical miner’s lamp and we created short and long form videos to use as promotion for our event.

My role in this was to create the instagram posts with the idea of a “wick” flowing through time and reaching the newer generations, and through important locations in Lens which are the places where we filmed.

WEEK 2 - On Jasotte

For the second week, we were tasked to create a WebTV that showcased the mix of our cultures (Canada vs France). We had to create a visual identity for our show (the name Jasotte comes from a mix of the expressions “jaser” and “papotte” which all mean to talk in Quebec and in France) as well as at least one fake ad in between the segments.

For this project, I helped in planning the games we play during our show as well as participating in our prerecorded section and in the actuall livestream (being in front of the cameras and controling the camera cuts behind the scenes).
